If you are visiting us for the first time, here are answers to some questions you might have. If these haven’t sufficiently answered your questions, please feel free to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your queries. We will respond as quickly as we can!
Our weekly Sunday celebration begins at 10am (sharp). We encourage you to arrive a few minutes early to meet and greet others, grab a name tag, and enjoy a coffee or tea before we begin.
What should I wear?
We have a very casual atmosphere. While you may see some people in their “Sunday best” you will see others in t-shirts, shorts, and sandals. Rev. Jonathan is a big fan of blue-jeans, so that’s typically what he wears with a polo or button-down shirt.
What is most important is that you are comfortable! Express yourself!
Who’s in the community?
We are open! We welcome all people with open arms: young and old; male, female, gender-fluid; gay, straight, bisexual, queer; cisgendered and transgendered. You are welcome here because you are a unique expression of life and deserve to be celebrated just as you are!
What is the space like?
As a new community we are currently located in a cozy space that accommodates about 30 seats. It is an intimate experience, and everyone is close to the action!
Does it cost anything?
Tucson New Thought is supported entirely through the generous contributions of its members and guests. While we don’t charge a fee for the service on Sunday, we do pass the basket. We are grateful for everyone’s support of our vision and mission by giving what they can to ensure our sustainability in service to the community.
What happens during the celebration?
The celebration begins with music! Usually an upbeat song we sing together (and some who feel compelled will dance too!).
Following a welcome period and introduction time we honor the connection of all faith traditions and religions of the world with a ceremony called “Lighting the Flames of Faith.”
We center ourselves with song… usually a song that has more of a chant vibe.
Rev. Jonathan then challenges himself to inspire “off the cuff” by reading and speaking about a randomly selected quote from our foundational text, The Science of Mind by Dr. Ernest Holmes.
Then we have our special song of the day which leads into the main message of the day by Rev. Jonathan.
Following the main message we participate in the act of offering.
It’s all wrapped up with some short announcements and a closing song!
Most of us stay for social connection time with snacks provided by volunteers in our community!
Community is really what it’s all about! You get to meet and enjoy the company of like minded friends!
Some of our ongoing Sunday events:
First Sunday of the month.
We are grateful to be able to offer an option for families. While parents enjoy the celebration their children can experience activities designed to inspire a deep sense of self-worth and self-respect. Your kids will walk away with a greater sense of their value in the world.
Last Sunday of the month
Our community enjoys a potluck meal together on the last Sunday of each month. You are welcome to bring a dish to share, but it is not required. Join us to share a meal and get to know the community a little more deeply.
